One Dead in St. Ann Truck Collision
There was tragedy on the roads in St. Ann Thursday morning, as a man was killed in a two-truck collision near the Richmond housing development.
Reports indicate that shortly after 10 a.m., an Isuzu delivery truck slammed into the back of an International truck that had stopped at a traffic light along the highway, just outside Richmond. The Isuzu truck was reportedly travelling at high speed in the same direction toward Runaway Bay.
Both the driver and his passenger, believed to be the truck’s sideman, sustained injuries and were rushed to the St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital. The sideman was later pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.
The driver of the International truck was unharmed and told reporters he saw the other truck speeding toward him in his rearview mirror before the impact pushed his vehicle several metres forward.
The crash caused a major traffic pile-up in the area.
