A police corporal assigned to the Westmoreland Division is now in custody, facing serious corruption charges.
Sources say the officer was arrested Wednesday morning during a sting operation led by the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau.
The corporal is accused of soliciting $2 million in exchange for the return of a firearm that had been seized just a day earlier. The weapon is believed to be linked to a known criminal network.
While the operation has sparked public interest, the Police High Command has not yet released full details surrounding the incident.
